Biography

Susan (Wright) Maud was born in Ireland.

Susan was born about 1812, the daughter of James Wright and Jane Dagg.

She was married to an Unknown Astleford.

She was married a second time, to Henry Maud, in 1858^[1]. Their marriage record reads:

Henry Maud, 52, residing in Elizabethtown, born in County Wexford, Ireland, son of Robert Maud and Anne Sutton, married

Susan Astlefoot (sic), widow, 46, residing in Elizabethtown, born in County Wicklow, Ireland, daughter of James Wright and Jane Dagg,

Witnesses: Mary Edgar, Kitley, and Thomas Bennett, Brockville,

On June 12, 1858.

In 1861, Henry and Susannah were living in Elizabethtown Township^[2]. The family lived in a stone house, and the household consisted of: Henry, 55; his wife Susanna, 50; Henry Jr., 20; James Astleford, 20; Henry's wife, Jane Maud, 22; Elenor Maud, 20; and Francis Pearson, 15.

In 1871, Henry and Susannah were living in Elizabethtown^[3]. James and Ellenor were also living with them, along with their three children, William, 5; Charlotte Ann; and Alice Maud, aged 7 months.

Susan died on March 22, 1874^[4]. She died from inflammation of bowels, ill 3 days. Her stepdaughter, Ellenor, died of the exact same thing six days later. Ellenor was also predeceased by her own daughter, Alice, who died of a spinal complaint on March 24. Henry Sr. was the informant on all three records.
