Richard Wright was a Freemason.
Richard Wright was an American military officer, educator and college president, politician, civil rights advocate and banking entrepreneur. Among his many accomplishments, he founded a high school, a college and a bank. He also founded the National Freedom Day Association and was the first African-American appointed to serve as U.S. Army Paymaster.[1]
Richard Wright was born into slavery in 1855. He was the son of Richard Wright and Harriet Lynch.[2]
He was married to Lydia Elizabeth (Howard) Wright.
He passed away in 1947[2] and is buried in Mount Lawn Cemetery in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania.[3]
