Cordelia Worden was baptized in Endellion,[1] in Cornwall, on 19 July 1792. The names of her parents were Samuel and Jennifer.[2]
Cordelia's parents were the Samuel Worden and Jane Calloway who were married in St Kew[3] on 24 May 1780.[4] (The fact that Cordelia's mother was sometimes called Jane and sometimes called Jennifer came about because in Cornwall, in those days, Jennifer and Jane were often regarded as interchangeable forms of the same name. This phenomenon was discussed in a court case on 26 March 1858, reported in the West Briton and Cornwall Advertiser.)[5]
Cordelia married Warwick Guy in Endellion on 6 March 1817. The witnesses were Samuel Worden and Mark Guy. Although curate Nicholas Tresidder recorded the bride's name as "Corderia", she herself signed "Cordelia".[6][7]
The marriage of Cordelia and Warwick was the third marriage between these two families: Cordelia's brother Samuel had married Warwick's sister Catharine on 8 March 1810,[8] and Cordelia's sister Jennifer had married Warwick's brother Mark on 11 May 1815.[9] This Mark was surely the same Mark Guy who witnessed the marriage of Cordelia and Warwick, and also that of Samuel and Catharine. The Samuel Worden who witnessed all three marriages was undoubtedly Cordelia's father.
Cordelia and Warwick Guy had four children, all baptized in Endellion:
Jane Adelaide Guy, baptized 22 September 1834.[13]
These baptism records all say that the father Warwick Guy was a farmer. When the first child was baptized the family were living at Higher Trefric, they were at Trewithick when the second and third were baptized, and at Burrow park when the last was baptized.
Higher Trefric can probably be identified with Higher Trefreock,[14] which is about a kilometre south of Port Isaac and about 800 metres north of the village of Trelights. Burrow Park is about a kilometre west of Trelights,[15] and Trewithick Farm is on the southern edge of Trelights.[16]
Note that Trewithick is not to be confused with either Trewetha or Trewethart, which are different places in Endellion.
An 1841 census record shows all six members of the family living at Borrowpark. With them were five servants (presumably farm workers).
In 1841 census enumerators were instructed that the ages of people over 15 were to be rounded down to multiples of 5; so the recorded ages of the family members are consistent with their baptism dates.
On census day in 1851 Cordelia and Warwick were living in Trelights, with their son Warwick and a house servant named Maryann Steer.

Cordelia's husband Warwick was buried in Endellion on 18 April 1860. His age was recorded as 67, and his abode as Trewethick.[19]
On census day in 1861 Cordelia was still living at Trewithick. Her 43 year old unmarried son Warwick, a Landed Proprietor, was the head of the household, and they had a boarder, a 58 year old unmarried gentlewoman named Amelia Huntington.[20]
