Biography

Thomas Allen Woods was born on May 2, 1836, in Bedford County, Tennessee, his father, Samuel West Woods, was 36 and his mother, Sarah Adams, was 38. He married Mary V. Trouett in 1860.

He served in the Civil War and fought for the Confederate States of America, serving in Arkansas, Cavalry, Company G, Benton Regiment and his widow applied for widows pension in 1921.

He died on August 19, 1921, in Osage Township, Benton County, Arkansas, having lived a long life of 85 years. He was buried in Centerton Cemetery, Centerton, Benton County, Arkansas, USA.

Special to the Gazette.

Bentonville, Aug 23 - T. A. Woods, aged 85, died at his home near Bentonville Saturday night. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon. Mr. Woods came to Benton County with his parents in 1840. The house erected in 1840 was burned during the war between the states but the new home for the family was built on the same site and Mr. Woods has lived in the same spot 81 years. Mr. Woods served in the Confederate army. He is survived by his wife, a niece, Miss Margaret Woods, and three nephews, Dwight Dickson of Bentonville, John Woods of Pea Ridge, and Jimmy Woods of Centerton.
