Edgar George Wood, son of George James Wood and Charlotte Elizabeth (Blackwell) Wood, was born on 10 April 1895 in New Zealand. [1]
In his WWI enlistment papers, Edgar is recorded as having worked as a sawyer for the Kauri Timber Compay, Auckland. His last home address is recorded as 53 East Street, Newton, in central Auckland. [2] His father having very recently died, Edgar names his brother A.C. Wood as his next of kin. His recorded intended address on discharge, in 1919, was Kamo, Northland.
In 1921, Edgar and Kate Elizabeth Wilkinson married in Whangarei. [3]They had at least three sons together.
Edgar is listed in electoral rolls of 1925 as a baker of Kamo, probably working for Kate's family. [4] By 1947, Edgar and his brother Albert were in business in Whangarei as Motor Dealers. [5]
After Kate died in 1952, Edgar remarried.
He died in Whangarei in January 1971.
