Biography

William's birth date is estimated from the death date of his sister Catherine, assuming her about 20 years old when she was killed and about 5 years between their births because of the marriages of their mother to their two fathers.

In his will, William Wood gave bequests to Aunt Amy Rowley, to Amy, the daughter of William Rowley, to niece Anne Hinson, to William Rowley, to George Proctor, and to friend William Heaberd, to wit:

William Wood, Jr. Stafford: 6 Jun 1706 I William Wood being sick and weak in body give to Amy Rawleigh the daughter of William Rawleigh two pewter dishes, l dozen of plates, a tankard, a salt sellar and a brass candlestick... to my cousin Anne Hinson 100 acres of land viz: next to John Grigsby on the Northern end or side of my land....in case she dye before she comes of age or without heir then give the 100 acres to my friend William Heaberd. Give William Rowley a certain parcel of land which joins upon the land I sold Thomas Gregg and to Rowleys own land to extend so far as the old field goes to go down the ridge next Robert Jones his cornfield so down the line of T Thomas Gregg to him the said William Rowleigh. Give to George Proctor my one hundred acres of land in Richmond County on Pye Creek. Give all the rest of my estate in land that is in Richmond County and elsewhere to my loving friend William Heaberd as also all the rest of my personal estate and I make him my Executor this 6th day June 1706.
