Biography

Warrant Officer Alpheus Winchester served in the United States Civil War.

He was the second child of Elijah Winchester and Charlotte Blood. He was 12 years old and living with parents in Bucksport, ME in 1850, and was still living at home with 8 siblings in 1860. He married Augusta Frances Nason in about 1863 or 1864, and they had daughters Evelyn and Flora. He served in the Union Navy during the Civil War, and later received a pension. After the war he lived in Portland, ME. He passed away in 1916 and is buried in Portland, ME.
