Warren Co, GA was created from Columbia, Washington and Wilkes counties in 1793. McDuffie Co, GA was created from Columbia and Warren counties in 1870. Thomson was originally called Slashes, was founded in 1837 and became the county seat of McDuffie Co when it was formed in 1870.[1]
According to the D.A.R. Roster Rev. Soldiers of GA, p.247, David Wilson b. 07 Apr 1786 Warren Co, GA s/o Capt. John Wilson b. 1756 d. 15 Feb 1847 and Mary Robertson; m. 21 Jan 1808 Columbia Co, GA Anny Drane (p.16). Father John served as Capt. Ga. Troops; m. 02 Oct 1783 Mary Robertson. From his tombstone in McDuffie Co Ga. near Thomas Ga. "Sacred to the Memory of John Wilson Who died Feb. 15, 1847, age 91 years 1 mo. and 15 days an officer in the Revolution."[1]
According to Pearl Baker's book, "'Neath Georgia Sod", David and family are buried in the Wilson Cemetery, South of Thomson on the Old J. G. Stovall Place. Aged 41 years.[1]
