Cornelia "Nelia" Wilson was born on 04 April 1888 in Enterprise, Coffee County, Alabama, United States. She was the daughter of Anderson Lafayette Wilson (1861-1923) and Mittie Emma (Hildreth) Wilson (1865-1932).[1]
Cornelia Wilson was enumerated in the household of her father, Anderson L. Wilson on the 1900 United States Census. Cornelia was twelve years old. The census recorded that she was born in Apr 1888. Other members of the household were her mother, Mithe [sic] E. Wilson, her siblings, Cleveland Wilson, Nova Wilson, Rubie Wilson, and Clyde Wilson, and a man named George Tucker whose relationship to the head of household was described as servant. The family was living in Victoria, Coffee County, Alabama.[2]
Nealy Wilson was married to Lee M. Clowers on 16 April 1908 in Coffee County, Alabama. S. N. Rowe, Probate Judge, performed the ceremony.[3] Her marriage ended when Lee Clowers died by suicide on 15 March 1911.[4] They were the parents of one son, Bibb, who later in life assumed Wilson as his surname. As far as is known, Nelia never remarried and there were indications she also re-assumed her maiden name as her surname.
When Cornelia Clower was twenty-one years old, she was enumerated in the household of her father, A. Lafayette Wilson, on the 1910 United States Census. Other members of the household were her mother, Emma Wilson, her siblings, Cornelia Clower, Novie Wilson, Ruby Wilson, and Clyde Wilson, and her son, Bibb Clower. The family was living in Victoria, Coffee County, Alabama.[5]
When the 1920 United States Census was taken, Mrs. Neelie Clowers was recorded as thirty years of age and living in the household of her father, A. Lafayett [sic] Wilson. Other members of the household were her mother, Mittie E. Wilson, her brother, Cleveland Wilson, and Neelie's son, Bibb Clowers. The family was living in Victoria, Coffee County, Alabama.[6]
In 1923 her father died and "Miss Neelie Wilson" was named in A. L. Wilson's obituary as one of his surviving daughters.[7]
"Meallie," as her name was recorded, was living in the household of her widowed mother, Emma Wilson, when the United States Census was taken in 1930. Her son was also living in the household which was located in Victoria, Coffee County, Alabama.[8]
Nealie was living in Victoria, Coffee County, Alabama in the household of her son, Bibb Wilson when the 1940 United States Census was taken. Other members of the household were Bibb's wife, Addi, and their son.[9]
Cornelia "Nelia" (Wilson) Clowers passed away on 27 February 1943 in Dothan, Houston County, Alabama. She was 54 years old.[1] Her gravestone in New Hope Cemetery, Coffee County, Alabama, was engraved with the name Nelia Wilson rather than her married name.[10] Her obituary, published in The Elba Clipper, was titled, "Mrs. Wilson Dies."[11]
