ROLLIE WILSON DEATH'S VICTIM -- Prominent Business Man Succumbs -- Acute Bright's disease caused the death of Rollie Demaree Wilson, 39 years of age, at 10 o'clock Sunday night at his home 223 Harahan boulevard. Mr. Wilson's condition had been considered quite serious more than three months. He was president and general manager of the Wilson-Butt Grocery company and one of the most prominent business men in this city. Mr. Wilson was born in Benton, Marshall county, Ky., January 24, 1881, and had made his home in this city about twenty years. His first business connections in Paducah were with the Eley Dry Goods company, then he became bookkeeper for the Baker-Eccles wholesale grocery company. For a short time he was bookkeeper for the Ohio Valley Fire and Marine Insurance company. Several years ago he and his brother, Jamie K. Wilson, formed the Turk-Wilson Grocery company at Eleventh and Kentucky avenue. After the death of Mr. Turk the firm became the Wilson-Butt company one of the largest wholesale grocery houses in this part of the state. He was a member of the First Baptist church of Paducah and of Paducah Masonic Lodge No. 127, and Paducah Camp No. 71313, Modern Woodmen of America. His father, the late J. M. Wilson was county court clerk of Marshall county seventeen year and the family was one of the most prominent in western Kentucky. Surviving are his wife, Florence McLeod Wilson, and two sons, Joe and John Wilson; four brothers, Rev. Lloyd T. Wilson of Nashville, Tenn.. secretary of the Baptist, Mission Board of the state of Tennessee; W. Wallace Wilson of near Benton; Jamie K. Wilson of 515 Madison street, and Rev. Frank Wilson of Earlington, pastor of the Baptist church in that city. One sister, Mrs. Lalia Foust of Benton, wife of Dr. Foust. A number of nephews and nieces survive. The Rev. Mr. Castleberry, of Benton, will officiate at the funeral service which will be conducted from the residence at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. Burial will take place in Maplelawn cemetery. The pallbearers will be: Honorary: James C. Utterback, E. W. Baker, Abe Livingston, C. C. Covington, Ernest Lackey and L. S. Dubois. Active: Joe K. Exall, Fred C. Hassman, W. S. Baker, Roy McKinney, Charles DeWerthern and Marvin Charles. All the members of his family are in Paducah to attend the funeral and the following friends will arrive from Benton today: Judge Joseph Price, and Mrs. Price; Mr. and Mrs. James Brandon, Mrs. Nina Strow; Commonwealth's Attorney Jack Fisher and Mrs. Fischer.[6]
