Edward was born on 21 November 1824 in New Jersey.[1] He was the son of Edward Wilmot and Rachel Haywood.
He was a tailor who married Letitia Keller on 14 June 1849. In 1850, they lived in Yardley, Pennsylvania, just 5 miles northwest of Trenton, New Jersey. Over the next 12 years, he and Letitia had six children:
By 1860, he moved his family to Ewing Township, New Jersey, which was a bit closer to Trenton. In 1863, after the outbreak of the U.S. civil war, he was registered for military service.
A year later, in 1864, he died and was buried in Saint Andrew's Church Cemetery in Yardley, Pennsylvania.[1]
