OBITUARY
WILMOT, Raleigh Elmo
Raleigh Elmo Wilmot, son of John and Sarah Wilmot, was born in Carroll, Missouri, September 26, 1886 and passed away at the Norton County Hospital April 1, 1966, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 5 days.
Mr. Wilmot's mother died when he was a child. He came to the farm home of his aunt, Mrs. Nora Michael, near Lenora, with his father in 1919.
Raleigh had been an invalid for many years, but despite his physical handicap, he always maintained a cheery disposition and loved to joke and visit with his friends. He had been a resident of the Andby Home since 1961.
Survivors include two sisters: Mrs. Clara Slaughter, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Mamie Close of Missouri. Several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday morning, April 4, at the Cutting-Eckhart Funeral Home in Lenora with the Rev. S.E. Staley of Norton, officiating. Mr. Don Heikes, accompanied by Mrs. Virgil Hager, sang The Old Rugged Cross and Beyond the Sunset. Casket Bearers were Harold Ford, Lester Prout, Leonard Cutting, Ed Shoemaker, Roy Goodrich and Chris Peterson. Interment was in the Lenora East Cemetery.[1]
