Biography

Margaret 'Peggy' Williamson was born 4 March 1818 in Montgomery County, Georgia, the daughter of John Williamson and [[Sullivan-7664|Elizabeth Sullivan Williamson^[1].

She married Thomas Jefferson Morris. They lived in Emanuel County, Georgia in 1850 with children Andrew, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Nancy, Martha, Mary Ann, and Thomas^[2]. In 1860 they lived in Oak Park with their children Andrew J., Elizabeth, Benjamin, Nancy, Martha A., Thomas, Green E., Samuel, George M., and Mandal^[3]. Still in Georgia in 1870, they had children Martha, Andy J., Thomas Green, Samuel, George, Ransom, and Albert^[4]. After Thomas died, she remained in Emanuel County, appearing on the census there in 1880 with her children Benjamin, Martha, Mandell, and Ransom living at home, as well as a Green Morris, Stepney (Stephen?) Phillips and an Isaiah Moseley^[5].

She died 1 March 1897 in Emanuel County and was buried in Margaret Morris Cemetery, Oak Park, Emanuel County, Georgia^[1].

She is mentioned in the death records of her daughters Nancy Wilkes^[6], Martha Morris^[7], and Mary Ann Morris^[8], and her sons Sam D. Morris^[9] and Thomas Riley^[10].
