Thomas A. Williamson was hanged on October 31, 1891 in Sedalia, MO for killing two men. This article in the Detroit Free Press explains the circumstances.
In Martin Mitchell's letter dated November 2, 1862 he mentioned a "man killed with an axe" in the regiment. Milton B. Williamson made the statement at his brother's trial that Thomas had tried to strike a boy with an axe while they were stationed in Memphis and subsequently had to wear a ball and chain.
