Biography

Daniel Williams Sr. appears to have been born around 1795. There is some variation in this based on census records.

From the obituary of his daughter -Merina Williams Slaughter 1826-1910 Her father was Daniel Williams of Edgefield SC born about 1795 She was born Aug 14 1826 Edgefield SC and they moved when she was about 6. She said …The family moved to Harris County Ga and lived there 1 year, then about 1833, moved to Chambers Co Al. However, based on census, several children were born in Ga, so they may have lived in Ga more than 1 year. She indicated that there were 14 children for Daniel Williams Sr and all but two of them survived to be full grown.

According to Tap Roots Article by Pat Oelslager deceased, he was born about 1795 in South Carolina and migrated with his family to Chambers County Al in early 1830’s. This is consistent with the obituary of Marina and Census info.

Daniel is buried in unmarked grave at a private cemetery on Hwy. 50 (between Lanett and LaFayette) 7 miles from Lanett.

Daniel was born in 1785. He was the son of Frederick Williams and Anna Bryant. He passed away after 1878.
