Elizabeth married William Thomas DeFoe, marrying in Wayne County, Tennessee on September 29, 1878,[3][4] having six children together. They made their home in Wayne County's Civil District 11, farming;[2][5] By 1910, they had purchased land a built a home in Iron City, Tennessee, owning the home and farm land free and clear.[6] By 1920, their children had all left the home and Elizabeth's household included her widowed mother and her separated sister-in-law, Jincy Paralee (DeFoe) Gallion.[7]
Widowed in 1936, Elizabeth lived in 1940 with her daughter, Mae Coffman, and her husband, who also lived in Iron City, Tennessee.[8] Susan Elizabeth DeFoe passed away in Iron City, Tennessee[9] at the age of 84 and is buried at Mount Nebo Cemetery, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in Iron City, Tennessee.[10]
