Biography

Fannie Williams was the mother of American dancer and choreographer Katherine Dunham.

Fannie Eula Williams was born in Canada. Her father, Alex Williams, was English and her mother, Victoria, was from Indiana. She moved to Illinois while still a young child.[1]

She married Henry Byron Taylor on 29 November 1883 in Indiana.[2] Together they had four children.[1]

She married Albert Millard Dunham about 1904 and had two more children with him, Albert Millard and Katherine, the choreographer.[3]

Fannie died in Chicago on 8 February 1913.[4]
