Biography

Sophia was born about 1835. Her first husband was Alexander Cornish. ^[1] They lived on the Blue Shank Road in Wilmot before moving to Lot 9.

Sophia and Alexander's children were:

Thomas, moved to Chatham, NB

John, to Maine

Richard, to New Brunswick and Maine

Sophia

Margaret Jane, b. 1861 married Mr Wood, emigrated to the States

William, lived in the States, then returned to the Island.

Alexander died, and Sophia married William Moreshead in 1863, after the death of his wife Mary. ^{[2] [3]}

They had three children: Thomas Edward, Charlotte Mcnaught, and Alexander James.

She died before 1891.

Research Note

There was an Alex Cornish in the 1861 Census of Prince Edward Island, in Lot 9. His wife seems to have been omitted, or put in the wrong age category, although there was a married couple.

Richard said both of his parents were born in England on the 1891 Census; Charlotte said both of her parents were born in Canada on the US 1900 Census.
