Diamond Wedding. WILLIAMS— MAJOR. Mr. Williams was born in Cornwall, 1834. Came to Adelaide 1849, with his widowed mother and family. Converted at Ballarat. Mrs. Williams was the daughter of the late Thomas Major, of Ballarat. . She was born in Cornwall, 1836; came to Adelaide with her parents 1840 ; converted at Burra Burra at the age of 15. Mr. and Mrs. Williams were married at Castlemaine, January 14th, 1854. They resided at Ballarat. Maryborough, Banyena, and now at Stawell. The festivities of their Diamond Wedding took place in the Stawell Methodist School Hall. This celebration was attended by 12 sons and daughters, 17 grandchildren, and 3 greatgrandchildren. The total number of descendants is 42. This happy, interesting and unique occasion was presided over by Mr. T. W. Williams (C.P.S.), Wangaratta. Our aged friends commanded their household after them, all their descendents are connected with the Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Williams, though well stricken in years, enjoy good health, and take a keen and live interest in things generally. They are amongst the "excellent of the earth" and are still devoted, active and exemplary members of our beloved Zion as they have been for many years. The pastor of the Stawell Church (Rev. Bride Barber) was also present, and concluded the historic family gathering with prayer of thanksgiving, and commendation of parents and offspring to God.

MR. JAMES WILLIAMS. The Stawell Church has lost a most worthy member, by the death, of James Williams. He was a native of Cornwall, and was born in 1834. At the age of 13 he came to Australia, arriving in Adelaide about 1847. He afterwards came to Victoria, and carried on business as a storekeeper at Castlemaine. In 1854 he was married in Castlemaine to Elizabeth Magor, only daughter of Thomas Magor, of Bond-street, Ballarat. He continued as a storekeeper and subsequently as a carrier. In 1859 he was converted at the Mount Pleasant Church, Ballarat, and maintained an honourable and unbroken connection with the church for 56 years. In 1869 he came to Stawell,. and found employment as an engine-driver at one of the mines. Subsequently he took up land in the Wimmera, and was blessed with a measure of success. About three years ago he retired from farming, and came to our town to reside, choosing Wimmera-street on account of its proximitv to the Methodist Church . Mr. and Mrs. Williams, had the extreme joy some little time ago of celebrating their diamond wedding. Mr. Williams' last sickness really began some months ago. He had a desire to recover; and live a little longer for the sake of his family and the church. Everything was done for him that tireless nursing by his wife and daughters could do, and doctors also, but he gradually declined. About a month ago he seemed to get a presentiment that his sickness was God's call to arise and depart. He was most submissive and patient, and loved to have the Scriptures read to him and hymns from the Methodist hymn book 'sung. No. 405 was a great favourite with him; No. 821 was another great favourite. On Sunday morning. July 4th, the circuit minister; conducted an In Memoriam service in the Stawell Church, taking for his text, Rev.xxi. 1; 'There was no more sea.' The choir gave a beautiful, rendition of "Crossing the Bar" The church was specially draped for the occasion, and the congregation was a large one. B. B.
