Biography
Elizabeth was born in 1836 to parents as yet unknown. There is some confusion as to her maiden name. Her marriage certificate to James Blankenship gives it as Williams. However, her son James Albert Blankenship's death certificate lists her name as Jane Slate[1]. It's possible she married FNU Williams before marrying Blankenship.
Her daughter Frances Jane was born two years before Elizabeth married James. Her last name on official records is Blankenship (possibly through adoption?).
Elizabeth raised her children in Missouri during and immediately after the Civil War. She passed away in 1885 at 49 years old.
