Jane (Jenny) Williams was born on May 18, 1798, in Lee County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Hardin Williams and Jane Hart.
Jenny married Arthur Long around 1817 in Cumberland County, Kentucky. They had ten known children - Elizabeth King Melton, Hardin, Keziah, John Crow, Lemuel G., William, Martha Margaret, Peter Boone, Emily Paralee, and Thomas Hart Benton.
In 1830 and 1840, they lived in Jackson County, Alabama, with six and eight children, respectively.[1][2] In 1850, they were located in Marion County, Tennessee, with four children, one slave, and a farm comprised of 180 improved acres and 120 unimproved.[3][4][5] In 1860, they had relocated to Grundy County, Tennessee, with several children, two slaves, 40 improved acres, and nearly 2000 unimproved.[6][7][8]
Arthur died in November 1862. Jenny died on July 30, 1867, in Jackson County, Alabama, at the age of 69.[9] She was buried at Bolivar Cemetery in Jackson County, Alabama.[9]
