He lived in LaFayette, Walker, Georgia, United States in 1935 and Greenback, Loudon, Tennessee, United States in 1940.[5]

He died on 9 July 1978, in Maryville, Blount, Tennessee, United States, at the age of 64,[7] and was buried in Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Alcoa, Blount, Tennessee, United States.[8]
