Notes
"Carol - I have been reading with interest your William Williams' families...in your research, did you ever come across a Freeman Williams b Buncombe Co, NC, as a possible family member of Wm Williams? Freeman was b about 1780 and married Lydia L Carroll. One of his sons was my gr-gr-grandfather, Adolphus D E Williams; his son, my gr-grandfather, was Adolphus Patton Williams; my grandmother was Lillian May Williams.
"In a story I read written by a relative, it said that this Williams family had relatives who lived in Giles Co, TN, but no names were given. During the Civil War, my Adolphus D E Williams and family moved from Winston Co, AL to Wayne Co, TN to wait out the war. Supposedly Wayne Co, TN was neutral territory. After the war they went back to Winston Co, then moved on to Saline Co, AR for a spell. Adolphus had been a Missionary Baptist Preacher and was much loved by those who came to hear him speak. No one in my family knew much about Freeman Williams except he may have been part Cherokee Indian. He owned land in Winston Co, AL, and died there in 1869. Would really like to find his parents. Thanks, Venée Stuart-Henson
