When Shirley Mae Williams [1]was born on September 12, 1927, in Dublin, Virginia, her father, James, was 40, and her mother, Grace, was 40.

She married Jacob G Todd in 1947 in Mercer, West Virginia, United States.[2] They had seven children together: Kaye (Todd) Calfee, Sandra (Todd) Rollins , Carolyn Faye Inez, Pamela Dawn, Alpha Sherry Varesse, Walter Gilmore, and Mary Marguerite Patricia. [3]

After being together for 13 years, Shirley and Jacob divorced in 1960 [4]

Shirley married Charles Lynburg Baker on 28 September 1967 in Arlington, Virginia, United States.[5]

She died on December 14, 2019, in her home surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren at the age of 92.

    My grandmother did not intend to name her Hazel. The midwife preferred this name and wrote it on the birth registry. My mother changed her name to Shirley Mae because she was known by that name all of her life.
