Biography

George^[1] was educated at Durham University, and didn't want to go down the coal-mines like his father so he travelled south to London, where he stopped in Boreham wood.

His occupation 1930-32 was a Hod carrier, from 1933-39 he worked in Keystone Stocking Factory where he met his wife, and from 1945-75 he earned a good living as a Bookmaker. When Geo. W. Wilkie, Ltd., was sold he owned five legal Betting Shops all in Boreham wood, Herts, UK.

George lived all his married life in Boreham wood, (from 1939-87) with the same telephone number.
