Biography

Elsie Elizabeth Anna Marie Wilhelm was born in on 2nd June 1909 in Brooklyn, New York. She is the daughter of Hugo Wilhelm and Meta Orthmann who were both German immigrants to the United States.

Elsie married Walter Winchell in 1935 and had 2 children.

She died in hospital on Long Island on Thursday night Dec 27, 2001 aged 92 after a long period of home based care. She was cremated and a memorial mass was held on 5th January 2002 at The Cathedral of the Incarnation, Garden City, New York. The officiant was The Very Reverend James J. Cardone, Dean of the Cathedral.
