Her first marriage was to William Frederic Chase in Philadelphia, but unfortunately he died at the young age of 31. They had 4 sons: Edwin Theodore, William Frederic, Horatio D. and Henry Martyn. She then married Joshua Coffin, who was a widower. They had 3 daughters: Anna Lapsley, Mary Hale and Elizabeth Wiley.
