George was born in 1769. He was the son of Reuben Wightman and Sarah Unknown. He passed away in 1834.
On 4 May 1790, George Whitman sold the portion of land in Warwick allotted him at the settlement of his father Reuben's estate (Warwick Deeds). He remained in Rhode Island until after his second marriage, removing soon after to Adams, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. He had, however, bought property there as early as 1794. He was interested in various business enterprises, chiefly in real estate. He bought and sold many different home sites in Adams, his wife stating that they removed some dozen times; and he bought business and mill properties for speculation.
His will dated 28 June 1833, proved 15 October 1834 names his wife Susannah and his three children. At the date of settlement his daughter Eliza Robinson was aged twenty-eight; son Stephen was aged thirty-eight; and son Reuben was thirty-three. His brother Caleb was a witness to this settlement.
