Hello Fontaine,

I noticed that you are one of the listed managers for Alice Gaylord and that you and I are 9th cousins twice removed through her.

I am in the process of attempting to confirm all of my direct lines through the use of GEDmatch, especially my Treat line that connects me to Alice Gaylord, my 8th great grandmother.

I compared your GEDmatch Kit Number with mine and discovered that we share several chromosomal segments on various chromosomes.

From our shared chromosomal segments, especially Chromosome 13 (7.2 cMs) and Chromosome 14 (5.8 cMs), I think we share a closer mutual ancestor.

What are your thoughts?

Our nearest common ancestor estimated at 7.5 generations. Clare Bromley III and Elizabeth (Wyatt) Cate (abt.1712-1765) are both descendants of Philip Courtenay (1404-1463).

I have a great, great uncle Anderson Wyatt Sheppard. This part of my tree dead ends with his father John. I do not know where that Wyatt middle name comes from.

There are many Sprague and Courtenay surnames in my tree. You can follow Philip Courtenay's paternal line back to at least https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Courtenay-435 in 1099. I suspect another common ancestor will be in the Sprague line.

While looking for something else in the Library of Virginia's Digital Archive, I came across a petition that includes the Last Will and Testament of Mildred Carter, daughter of Henry Carter, in which she names her father, two brothers, and sister Mildred. The Petition also names Mildred's children. I'd like to add citations to the documents on the appropriate profiles. Please let me know if you would like to review the documents first.

Hi Fontaine, Mary Richardson here with long line of Cate ancestors. I am probably the person that fleshed out biography (somewhat) as Seems to me Elizabeth is on my watch list. I emailed you 6 mo ago for trusted access. I have references on the page, had added a template to Elizabeth. Since your name is unique ( at least not a Mary or Joe) I remember you giving trusted access. I am not sure what you want, I know the Cate family may not be Gateway ancestors, but they were hard working family. Since you removed Capt. Robert Cate as spouse, shall I remove the biography.?
