John Whittemore, turner and yeoman, was the son of John Whittemore, known as "John, of Cambridge" (son of Thomas Whittemore) ^[1], was born in Charlestown about 1662 and died there 16 April 1702.

On May 26, 1684, John married Elizabeth Anabel, in Charlestown. ^{[2] [3] [4]} She died on October 27, 1686.

John married secondly Sarah Hall, who was baptized 14 February 1669 and died 18 April 1716, aged 47 (from gravestone), and who was the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth (Collicot) Hall. Sarah (Hall) Whittemore married secondly, 12 Janurary 1708, Joseph Frost. She was bequethed L20 in the will of her father, Richard Hall, Sr., filed 10 September 1691.^[5]

John Whittemore, Jr. was admitted to full communion in the First Church, Charlestown, 19 June 1687. Taxed in Charlestown in 1688 was John Whittemore Jr.^[6]

Joh Whittemore, of Charlestown, wheelwright, his wife Mary consenting, "for paternal love and natural affection" gave "the dwelling house I now live in", located in Charlestown, to his son, John Whittemore Jr., of Charlestown, turner. Winesses; Joseph Whittemore and James Turner. Dated 27 Feb. 1690. Acknowledged and sworn to in Court of General Sessions by Capt. Joseph Whittemore on 16 May 1732, and recorded 17 May 1732.^[7]

John Whittemore waas a Constable of Charlestown for the year 1692. ^[8] John Whittemore was on the Jury of Trials in 1695 and 1700, Charlestown Venires. ^[9] John Whittemore was on the Jury of Trials in 1698, Charlestown Venire.^[10]

Sarah Whittemore, relict widow of John Whittemore, late of Charlestown, yeoman, decsd. intestate, was appointed administrix on his estate, 8 June 1702. John's inventory, filed on 16 June 1702, amounted to £154.5.11. The accounting presented by Sarah on 8 May 1704, showed John's debts came to £176.14.7, so his estate was declared insolvent, and no heirs were named. ^[11]

A respected member of his community, John was given his father's house four years before on the latter's death, then lived only eight more years himself. Of his twelve children, only half grew to maturity, and three lived over 40 years, a sad contrast to his father John's family. Those three, oddly enough, included the eldest and the youngest; John and Josiah, who, though only half brothers, were very close friends.
