Biography
John Joseph Whelan was born on 23 September, 1877 at 10 Broad Lane, Cork.[1]
John Whelan and Lizzie O'Keeffe, of Cork, were married on 27 April 1898 at Ss Peter & Paul’s Church, Paul Street, Cork.[2]
In 1901, John Joseph Whelan, 23, was living in house 6.2 in Peter Street (Cork Urban No. 7, Cork) along with his wife Lizzie Whelan, 21. Their children, John Joseph Whelan, 2, and Timothy Whelan, , were also living with them. [3]
Research Notes
Elizabeth, their fourth child, was born in Somerville, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States in 1906, so between her sister Mary's birth in Cork in June 1903 and 1906, the family including the three oldest children had immigrated to the USA.
Elizabeth's birth record seems to have the family name spelled as 'Whalen', looking at the scanned image.
