Biography

"Hendrick Jansz Westerkamp (Westercamp); received permission on April 2, 1648, to see a living in the colony by day labor or otherwise and soon seems to have established himself as a baker. In accordance with a resolution of April 1, 1650, he was granted the garden between the first and second creeks formerly occupied by Capitaijn [Willem Juriaensz, the baker]. Westerkamp died before Jan. 17, 1655. His widow's name was Femmetje Alberts." [1]

Hendrick Westercamp married: Femmetje Alberts, sometime bef. 1647 Dec 26[4], probably before 1642 when daughter Margarite was born. His wife Femmentje was the widow of Hildebrand Pietersen who d, ca. 1639. Of interest is that Pieter Hillebrantsen was a sponsor at Margarite's baptism.

Jan Gerretsen, jm, of Heerden,[6]...However, in 1662, Margarite as Grietjen Hendricks Westercam baptized a illegitimate child by Pieter Jacobsen. Baptism was recorded at the Reformed Dutch church of Kingston, Ulster County, New York; sponsors were: Saertje Staets, Willempje Jacobs, Pieter Hillebrantsen[7]

November 24, 1639 Hendrick owed for a contract with Jan Schepmoes and was ordered to pay.[8]

0n August 20, 1652, Henriickse Westercamp was ordered to pay Eight beavers to the Tavern owner Phillip Gerary owed since August 16 of last year.[9]
