Obituary

Clinton Allen Westberg passed away peacefully January 22nd, 2015 at Pullman Regional Hospital. He was surrounded by his family who loved him immensely.

Clinton was born March 1, 1927 to Carl and Ella Westberg, homesteaders from Sweden. The youngest of seven children, Clinton grew up a farm boy during the Great Depression. He left school his junior year to enlist in the Coast Guard. He felt honored to be able to serve his country during WWII.

Later, Clinton moved to Seattle to further his education. It was there that he married Vi Wrubleski in 1951. Their daughter Carla was born in 1952. After finishing trade school, they returned to Pullman where Clinton opened Pullman Appliance with his brother Ray. Their daughter Claudia was born in 1954. Together they raised their family and were active members of the community until Vi’s death 1983. In 1990 he married Moneta Stout and through this marriage gained three sons, Bill (Sharon), Bob (Sarah), and Dallas (Mary). Moneta died in 2011. Clinton continued to enjoy spending time with his daughters and their husbands, Neal Close and Dennis Berschauer, numerous nieces and nephews, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Sunny.

There simply aren’t words that feel a fitting tribute for a man as adored as our Grandpa. He loved and supported his family with ferocity, looked forward to Sunday service at the United Church of Moscow, and could be heard a mile away rooting “Go Cougs!” He would rush out on Thanksgiving to fix your broken oven, clear the whole neighborhood of snow during a blizzard, and took great pride in contributing to and being a part of his community for over 60 years.

Our sadness will soon give way to overwhelming gratitude that he was ours and that the world was able to know him for nearly 88 years. A Celebration of Life is being planned for what would have been Clinton’s birthday in March (details to follow). The circle of those Clinton is survived by is wide reaching and we look forward to sharing our stories with you soon.

A celebration of life and memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 2 to 5 PM at Banyans on the Ridge Pavillion in Pullman, WA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kimball Funeral Home and Crematory of Pullman. [1]
