William Jacob Werle was the son of Louis Werle and Mary Margaret Schirck.

William Jacob Werle was one of several siblings:

  1. Henry Jacob Werle, born August 24, 1861 in Warren County, Pennsylvania, shortly after the beginning of the United States Civil War.
  2. Harriet Werle, born September 3, 1863, in Warren County, Pennsylvania, during the middle year of the United States Civil War.
  3. Mary Lorena Werle, born September 21, 1865, shortly after the end of the United States Civil War, and who married Mr. Schuler
  4. George Werle born April 26, 1868 in Warren, Warren County, Pennsylvania during the United States Reconstruction period.
  5. William Jacob Werle, born March 7, 1877 in Warren, Warren County, Pennsylvania a few months after the United States celebrated its Bicentennial.

William Jacob Werle served his country in the Spanish-American War in 1898.
