There is a discrepancy in William's date of death. Some military records show he was killed on 17 Sep 1862 at Antietam, MD. Although, in a War Department, Surgeon General's Office Record and Pension Division document (file uploaded here) stating he died on 25 Nov 1862 (admitted 13 Nov 1862)at the Citizens Volunteer Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, as well as the pension application his mother filed (transcription below) both state his date of death is 25 Nov 1862 in Philadelphia, PA.
Transcription of Pension filed by William's mother, Catherine (source: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/2549053/william-wenrick) On the sixth day of Dec. AD 1862, personally appeared before the subscriber, a Justics of the Peace within and for the County of Centre, PA, Catherine Wenrick, a resident of Centre County, State of PA, age 69 years, who being first duley sworn, according to the law, doth on her make the following delcaration in order to obtain the benefits of the provisions made by the Act of Congress approved 11 July 1862 that she is widow of John Wenrick, late of Centre County, deceased and mother of Wm Wenrick who was a private in Company G, Commanded by Capt. Wm H. Blaire in the 51st Reg of PA vol in the year of AD 1861 that the said son died at the Citizens Volunteer Hospital, Philadelphia on the 25th of Nov 1862 of diarrhea contacted while in the service of the United States as appear by a letter dated 26th Nov 1862, Philadelphia from (?) of said Hospital to the declaration. She further declares that her dead son upon whom she was wholly or in part dependent for support having left no widow or minor child under sixteen years of age surviving, declarant makes this declaration and application for a pension under the above mentioned act and refers to the evidence filed herewith, and that in the proper department to establish her claim. She also declares that she has not in any way been engaged in or aided or abetted the rebellion in the United States; that she is not in receipt of a pension under 2nd Section of the act above mentioned or under any other act, nor has she again married since the death of her son, the said William Wenrich/k and I do hereby (?) and appoint George (?) my true and lawful Attorney to receive the same when allowed.
