Jesse was born in Freeland, Oxfordshire in 1841.[1] He was the son of John Weller and Rhoda (Judd) Weller. He was baptised at the Wesleyan Chapel in Witney on 30th June 1841. The register shows that he was 13 weeks old.[2]
Marriage
Jesse Weller and Phoebe Crawford were married after banns in Church Hanborough, Oxfordshire on 31st May 1866[3]. They were bachelor and spinster and both living in the parish at the time. Jesse was 25, a labourer and the son of John Weller, a labourer. Phoebe was 20, a gloveress and the daughter of Thomas Crawford who was also a labourer. Neither could write so they both made their mark on the register with a cross and the witnesses to the marriage were William Hopcroft and Ellen Weller[4].
