WELCH, McNEAL, HAMPTON, GARRETT, HOLTEN, JAMISON
John Welch Jr., 70, died at 1 a.m. Sunday at his home at Joy, Illinois, following ga short illness.
He was born June 8, 1896, in New Boston Township, the sone of William and Emma McNeal Welch. For 26 years he resided east of the New Boston area. He moved to Joy five years ago.
He married Eloise Hampton Feb. 20, 1917 at Muscatine.
Mr. Welch was a retired farmer and livestock buyer. He was a member of the Moose lodge of Muscatine.
Surviving is his widow, Mrs. Eloise Welch of Joy, one son, William (Bud) Welch of San Bernadino, California three daughters, Miss Marjorie Wech, Knoxville, Ill.; Mrs. Wilma Jean Garrett, Riverside Calif., and Mrs. Bernadine Holten, Moline; one brother Henry Welch, Galesburg; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Jamison, Galesburg; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the New Boston Methodist church with the Rev. James Hancock, pastor of the Joy and New Boston Methodist churches officiating. Burial will be at the New Boston Cemetery.
The body is at the Olin funeral Home in Joy where the family will meet friends between the hours of 7:00 and 9 p.m. Tuesday.
John was born in 1896. He passed away in 1967.
