Biography

Morris Weinrieb was born in Austria-Hungary (at Szambor, according to his daughter Jenny's birth certificate)[1] in August 1862. According to his marriage certificate his parents were Wolf Weinrieb and Rosie Topp;[2] his death certificate names them "William" Weirieb and Rachel Steinberg.[3] He immigrated to the United States about 1883[4]

He married Yetta "Gussie" Schuss on 21 June 1883 in Manhattan[2] and they had the following children:

  1. Fannie (1887)
  2. Jennie (1892)
  3. Sam (1894)
  4. Annie (1896)
  5. Herbert (1899)
  6. Martha (1902)[4].

In 1920 Morris was living in the household of his daughter Anna with two of his other daughters[5]. He was still living with them in 1930[6].

Per his death certificate, he was a tailor and lived at 295 First Washington Avenue in Manhattan. He died on 15 October 1938 and was buried the next day in Washington Cemetery[3].
