Biography

Lillie Ann (Webb) Grimes was born in Texas. She was the daughter of Joe Webb. (See Research Note)

Lillie Webb and Mr. O. E. Grimes (Oscar Ervin Grimes) were married on 01 July 1909 in McLennan County, Texas.^[1][2]

Research Notes

Lillie Webb was possibly born on 29 March 1892 in Texas. She was possibly the daughter of Joseph Webb and Sarah Diona Mullins. It is important to ascertain if the person on the Texas Death Certificate for Lillie Ann (Webb) White is the same person as the Lillie Webb who married O. E. Grimes. It is likely, but none of the sources examined make this relationship definite.^[4] Lillie Ann (Webb) Grimes father was named Joe Webb per the 1910 United States Census on which he was living in the household of Oscar E. and Lillie Grimes.^[3] There was a Joseph C. Webb enumerated on the 1900 United States Census with a daughter named Lillie A. Webb whose month and year of birth match closely with the approximate year of birth of the Lillie Webb who was married to Oscar Ervin Grimes.

She was possibly married second to T. H. White. Mr. T. H. White was the informant on her death certificate. Confirmation is needed that this Lillie Ann (Webb) White is the same person as the person profiled. A marriage between a Lillie Ann Webb and a Thomas Hearon White took place on 24 July 1948 in Coryell County, Texas.^[6]Oscar Ervin Grimes was married to someone else by 1913, so it is possible he and Lillie were divorced after the 1910 United States Census was enumerated.

A Lillie White, wife of T. H. White, was enumerated on the 1940 United States Census. However, if Thomas Hearon White and Lillie Ann Webb were not married until 1948, it is possible this census record was not the same couple.^[7]

According to her Texas Death Certificate, a Lillie Ann (Webb) White passed away 30 January 1970 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas.^[4]

The Lillie Ann (Webb) White listed on the Texas Death Certificate mentioned above was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, McLennan County, Texas. Her gravestone was engraved that she was the wife of T. H. White. The dates on the gravestone match those of the Lillie Ann (Webb) White on the Texas Death Certificate.^[8]

According to FindAGrave, Lillie Ann and Oscar Ervin Grimes were the parents of a daughter, Grace Lee (Grimes) Moore, who was born in 1910 and died in 1999. A source to confirm this relationship was not provided and none has been located.^[9]

I have not located her on the 1920 or 1930 United States Censuses.
