Biography

Arthur was born about 1841.^[1] He was the son of Thomas Weatherall (A Shoe Maker) and Ann McNeice.

On December 31st, 1863 Arthur married Margaret Graham in the Lurgan Parish Church in County Armagh. Arthur was recorded as Age 21, A Bachelor and a Shoe Maker residing in Lurgan. Margaret was recorded as Age 18, A Spinster and a Weaver residing in Lurgan. The witnesses were George Graham and Jane "Wetherell".^[2]

From the Birth records of their children, Arthur and Margaret moved to Belfast sometime between 1875 and 1878.

Sadly, Margaret passed away in 1889 in Belfast.

Arthur (Age 60) can be found during the 1901 Census of Ireland residing in a house 5 in Forster Street (Court Ward, Antrim) with his two youngest sons Joshua and Arthur. Arthur Senior is recorded as a Widower and Shoe Maker.^[3][4]

On May 16th, 1901 Arthur (Widower) married Maria (Baxter) Townsley (Widow) in St. Anne's Parish Church (Church of Ireland) in Belfast, Ireland. Arthur was recorded as age 50 (should be 60) and a Labourer residing at 5, Foster Street in Belfast. Maria was recorded as age 47, and a Shop Keeper residing at 40 Sherbrook Street in Belfast. The witnesses were William James Holland and Elizabeth Entwistle.^[5]

Arthur and Maria can be found residing in a house 24 in Sherbrook Street (Court Ward, Antrim) during the 1911 Census of Ireland with two "Baxter" nephews, and 4 "McDowell" Family members who are boarding with them. ^[6][7]

Arthur passed away on November 29th, 1912 (Age 71) at 48 Sherbrook Street in Belfast, Ireland. He was recorded as Married, and a Boot Maker. The official cause was Catarch of the Lungs (12 days) and Exhaustion. It was registered by his Widow Maria Weatherall who was present at the time.^[8]
