He went missing in 25 Sqn RAAF Liberator A72-133, on 26th April, 1945.
His cousin, Clive 'Bardie' Wawn served as a pilot in No.75 Squadron RAAF during the Battle of Milne Bay, being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC).
He survived Japanese imprisonment and died on 2nd December, 2004
