Joseph was born in 1833 in Chelsea, Middlesex. His parents are James Thomas Waud, a professor of music, and Ann Carter.[1]
In 1841 Joseph lived with his parents and siblings in Chelsea, Middlesex.[2]
In 1851 Joseph lived with his parents and his sisters in Chelsea, Middlesex, England. His father was a professor of music. His uncle, John Carter, his nephew, Robert Parry, and his brothers-in-law, Alfred Peile and Robert Parry, also, lived with them.[3]
Joseph became a member of the The Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain on the 6 December 1857 as confirmed in the Society's book, “Members of The Royal Society of Musicians 1738-1984” on Page 152

He performs on the Piano Forte, Double Bass & Violoncello in the Permanent Band of the company, also at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket and various concerts, and has private teaching – Brother of Washington William Waud

He married Eliza Walford 11 September 1858 in Kensington, London.[6]
their son, Edward Joseph, was born in 1859 in Chelsea.[7] He died in 1864.[8]
their daughter, Mary Eliza, was born in 1861 in Chelsea.[9]
their daughter, Miriam Priscilla, was born in 1863 in Chelsea.[10]
In 1861 Joseph lived with his wife, Eliza, and their son, Edward in Chelsea, MIddlesex. He was a professor of music.[11]
In 1871 Joseph lived with his wife, Eliza, and their daughters, Miriam P., and Mary E., in Chelsea, Middlesex. Joseph was a music teacher.[12]
In 1880 Joseph was a professor of the double bass at the Kensington School of Music.[13]
In 1881 Joseph lived with his wife, Eliza, his father-in-law, James Walford, and his daughters, Miriam and Mary, in Chelsea, MIddlesex. Both Joseph and Mary were teachers of music.[14]
In 1891 Joseph lived with his wife, Eliza, and their daughter, Miriam, in Hammersmith, London, England. Joseph and Miriam were teachers of music.[15]
He passed away 7 July 1905.[16] The probate of his will was held on 29 July 1905 in Lewes, East Sussex, England.
Miriam Priscilla Waud was his beneficiary.[17]
