Biography

Joan Muriel Mary Watson was born in 1917. She is the daughter of Raymond Watson and Mary Lewis.

Joan Muriel Mary Watson was born on 10 January 1917, and was baptised on 8 April 1917 at St Mary's, Stoke Newington, Middlesex, England.[1]

Immigration: Joan was aged 11 when she migrated with her parents and brother Anthony on the Jervis Bay which departed 7 August 1928 from London, England. [2]

Marriage: Joan married Arthur James Opie (1914-1999) on 22 December 1939 at All Saints' Church, St Kilda, Victoria, Australia.[3]
Their engagement had been announced in June: Joan's photograph was published in The Argus on 10 June.[4] A description of the wedding was in The Argus.[5]

Death: Joan Muriel Mary Opie died at Hurlingham Nursing Home, Victoria, Australia on 18 December 2000.[6] She was buried in Springvale Botanical Cemetery, Melbourne, Victoria.[7]
