I was reading the new book (2017) by Tom Clavin called DODGE CITY, Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson and the Wickedest Town in the American West. The whole of Chapter Two is devoted to the Earpe/Earp family genealogy. Mr. Clavin mostly agrees with you, but he says that it was the son of this Thomas that dropped the second e from Earpe.

Hi Jonathan! My name is Melissa deJong - my great grandma was Erma Mochrie - Erma's grandma was Theresa Shattuck - Theresa is approximately 5-6 generations down the line from William Shattuck from England. My aunt recently gave me this info - but not much else - she just told me to google the descendants of William Shattuck from England... I'm at a loss as to how to go about tracing my ancestry back to the 1600s! I see you have an extensive list of Shattuck ancestors. I was wondering if you might be able to help me out?
