Biography
Leonard was born in 1859 in Wales, the son of William Watkins and Isabel Bramwell. He grew up in Glamorganshire, Cardiff and attended Exeter College in Oxford. Whe there, he played Rugby for Oxford University. He was living with his parents at Llamlaff place in Llamlaff according to the 1881 census [1]
He continued his love for rugby by participating in local Llandaff teams. In 1881, he was chosen to represent Cardiff for the newly formed Welsh Rugby team. After an embarassing loss to England, Leonard chose not to represent his country in this sport, and he emigrated to Argentina.
