Lawrence Washington (c.1500-1584) was the son of John Washington and Margaret Kytson. He m.(1)Elizabeth _ (dsp), widow of William Gough, mercer, of Northampton and (2) Anne (or Amy) Pargiter, daughter of Robert Pargiter of Greatworth, Northamptonshire. and Anne Knight,
Lawrence Washington was a wool merchant and was mayor of Northampton in 1532. He took advantage of the dissolution of the monasteries and purchased three manors from the crown, incl. Sulgrave which was held by his descendants until 1659.[1]
Sulgrave Manor was built by Lawrence Washington, George Washington’s five times great grandfather, in the mid-1500s. The original Tudor features can be visited on one of our house tours including the Great Hall that was the heart of the house where Lawrence Washington, his wife and eleven children lived. Other original elements of the Washington’s Tudor house are made up of the entrance porch, the Great Chamber and two smaller rooms on the first floor.

My grandmother, Margaret Olive W. was born in Canada, and moved to USA (Iowa?) as a child. She had a brother Lawrence.
I am looking to connect with family members or genealogists doing the Canada Washington line.
