Born 21 May 1813, Plymouth, Devonshire, England, the son of Thomas Warren and Ann Kingston. Baptised 20 Jun 1813, Devonport, Devon. [1]

He grew up in St Peter, Carmarthenshire, Wales, entering the family business as a Wholesale Druggist. [2] The family partnership was dissolved 7 Aug 1845. [3] He appears then to have set up as a chemist on his own. [4]
