"Richard was from Hestercombe, Somerset, England - which is situated on the southern slopes of the Quantock Hills with extensive views over the Vale of Taunton to the Blackdown Hills beyond. It was first mentioned in an Anglo-Saxon charter of 854. From 1391 until 1872 the land was continuously owned by one family, the Warres." [1]
According to the Visitation of Somerset, in the pedigree for Warre of Hestercombe in Kington near Taunton, Richard Warre is the father of John and the grandfather of Robert.[2]
This is also shown in John Collinson, History of Somersetshire. Richard married Joan Atwood and they had Elizabeth and one son, John. John married Joan Combe and their son was Robert, who married Christian Hankford and died in 1465.[3]
