Pres. Reagan is keeping tabs on Hugh Warden of Sierra Madre, another member of Screen Actors Guild. The White House called Warden last week to wish him well.
When the message came through, however, it didn't occur to Veronica Warden that it might be THE White House so she said, "Is this White House Productions?" They assured her that it was indeed the White House. They called in response to a letter written by the Warden's daughter, Christine Dimitry who resides in England. Dimitry had written the President about her father's recent surgery.
According to Veronica Warden, Hugh has recently been to the hospital for cancer surgery. Doctors found the cancer was inoperable and now Hugh is on chemotherapy. Veronica said he is doing fine and doctors are optimistic because Hugh's attitude is so [text missing]
The White House secretary told Veronica that Hugh would be receiving "a little something from the President."
What does Veronica expect the ‘little something" to be?
She answered, "I don't know but I hope it's not a ticket to the Inaugural Ball because I don't have a thing to wear."
