Biography

Joseph Waller was born about 1764, probably at Amenia, Dutchess County, New York (per grave memorial). Probably he was a son of Anna (Buffington; 1743 - 1826) and Israel Waller (1734 - 1798).

Per the caption of his online grave memorial site(s), Joseph Waller served in militia in the company of Captain Beriah Green at Fort Fortitude, Vt from October 11 to October 20 1782, dates inclusive.

Joseph Waller married Parthenia (Alvord) (Taylor) as her second husband. Parthenia was widow of Robert D. Taylor who had died in 1798, in Woodstock, Vermont. Parthenia and Joseph Waller were married probably about 1801 [the specific date Jan. 30, 1803 has been speculated in an online database, but with no sourcing [1]]. They had at least 2 children [2]:

  1. Octave Waller, b. 2 Jan 1804 @ Royalton, Vermont; married @ Enosburg, Vermont, Harmon Wheeler; d. 4 Jul 1860 @ Fairfax, Vermont
  2. Louisa Waller, b. 16 Mar 1808 @ Enosburg, Vermont; married 3 Apr 1832 @ Enosburg, David Rowley; d. 30 Sep 1858 @ Fairfax, Vermont

Joseph Waller passed away about 19 May 1852, interred in Howe-Hickey Cemetery, Royalton, Windsor County, Vermont, USA [3]. This same Joseph Waller (same birth date and location, same death date) is represented to be interred elsewhere-- Stevens Ferry Cemetery, Enosburg, Franklin County, Vermont, USA [4]. Between these two online memorial sites, the depicted grave markers appear to be mixed together, with images of gravestones in the Enosburg cemetery appearing to be conflated with those in the Howe-Hickey cemetery.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:
